WELCOME TO THE ABODE OF GODS

When you drive from Haridwar to Rishikesh you begin the climb to the hills. Here at Rishikesh you are greeted with a welcome arch on the road stating “Welcome to the Abode of Gods”. The newly created state of Uttaranchal is verily one of the most beautiful state of India. The mighty rivers Yamuna and Ganga have their source in the awe inspiring and rugged Garhwal Himalayas. The sacred Hindu pilgrimages of Char Dham namely Yamnotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath are located in this region.
Gangotri is situated at a distance of 95 km from Uttarkashi.

HARSIL

Harsil is located on the banks of river ganga on the road to Gangotri at a distance of 70 km from Uttarkashi. It is a picturesque valley in the Himalayas at a height of 8500 ft. above mean sea level, surrounded by mountain ranges extending high above 12000 to 16000 ft. There are Deodar trees in this Valley and this region gets lot of Sun light.

CLIMATE

Harsil has cool climate throughout and gets snow bound between December to March.

MYTHOLOGY

The name Harsil is derived from Hindu mythology. Har or Hari means God and Sil or Sila means stone. It is mentioned in Hindu myth that asura King Jallandhar ruled this region and he was married to Tulsi, the loyal dedicated wife pati vrata. In the battle between Gods and Asuras, Jallandhar was unbeatable due to the boon granted to him by Brahma. Jallandhar could only be killed if his wife Tulsi’s vows of pati vrata get violated. It is believed Lord Vishnu, disguised as Jallandhar, attempted to deflower Tulsi which she discovered and cursed Lord Vishnu that He turns into a stone at that very spot. Hence this place got its name Harsil.

COTTAGES

The land is touching the road to Gangotri and is jutting out and sloping towards the river ganga. About 50 trees of walnut and apples have been planted and the landscaping will be done by the promoter. There will be about ten to twelve cottages. Three cottages have been sold and are nearing completion. This is a rare opportunity to own a cottage in the Abode of Gods because land is not available in this section of Garhwal. A care-taker lives on the site to look after the estate and maintain the trees. This is an exclusive piece of land.

COST

The cost of single room cottage is Rs. 18 lacs and two room cottage Rs. 24 lacs. The design of the cottages as prepared by the promoter of Harsil Valley Resort is given, but the buyer can get the cottages built as per her/his specifications. The cost will then be calculated according to the changes made to the standard design.
